Rosa Dávila Highlights the Achievements of Tenerife Athlete Gisela García Vera

Recognition for Gisela García Vera by the President of Tenerife Cabildo

Rosa Dávila, the President of the Tenerife Cabildo, hosted young athlete Gisela García Vera at the Insular Palace to honour her significant sporting achievements this season.

Remarkable Achievements

During the meeting, Dávila congratulated the gymnast on her successes at this year’s Spanish Championships, where she was crowned Champion of Spain twice in just twenty days, establishing herself as one of the country’s most promising rhythmic gymnasts.

Values of Sport

The President highlighted that “Gisela embodies the values of sport perfectly: daily effort, perseverance, discipline, and the ability to overcome challenges. Her achievements are a source of pride for all of Tenerife and serve as an example for many young people who find in sport a means of personal and professional growth.” Dávila also emphasised the importance of the work done by local sports clubs and the families who support athletes in their journeys.

Best Wishes for the Future

The President extended her best wishes to Gisela for her future: “I am convinced that this is only the beginning of a successful career. I hope to see you representing Spain at the Olympics one day, as you possess the talent, dedication, and determination necessary for success.”

Support from the Sports Councillor

Yolanda Moliné, the Sports Councillor, also congratulated Gisela “for her recent accomplishments and for positioning herself as one of the great hopes of Spanish rhythmic gymnastics. She combines exceptional talent with immense work ethic, sacrifice, and commitment.” Moliné added, “For the island, it is a source of pride to have athletes like Gisela, who elevate our name and become role models for many young girls practising rhythmic gymnastics.”

Ongoing Support for Clubs

The Councillor concluded by stating, “These successes also reflect the fantastic work done by Batistana, a true breeding ground for champions. Therefore, the Sports Department of the Cabildo will continue to support the grassroots level and clubs that contribute to the growth of our sport.”

Gratitude from Gisela

Gisela García Vera expressed her gratitude for the recognition: “It is an honour to receive support from the Tenerife Cabildo and its President. These achievements are the result of many years of hard work, the efforts of my coaches, my club, and the unconditional support of my family. This recognition motivates me to keep training every day to achieve new goals,” she stated.

Champion of Spain

Nineteen-year-old Gisela García Vera became the Champion of Spain in the youth individual category on 18 April during the Spanish Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship held in Oviedo. Just twenty days later, on 8 May, she claimed victory again, this time in the youth group category at the Championships in Santander.
