As part of the inaugural edition of the Gold Rings Awards, TEA, the Tenerife Space of the Arts, and MUNA, the Museum of Nature and Archaeology, will host a series of professional and educational activities on 19th and 20th June. These events will be open to the audiovisual industry, the public, and the press. Registration for all activities can be completed on the awards’ official website, www.premiosanillosdeoro.com.
Event Overview
These days will gather some of the leading professionals from the national industry to engage students, professionals, and enthusiasts in the creative and production processes that bring the most notable series to life. Many activities will feature nominees for the Gold Rings Awards, platform and television channel executives, executive producers, and technical specialists, who will share their experiences and insights on the current and future landscape of scripted series.
Schedule of Activities
The events will commence on 19th June at TEA Tenerife at 10:00 AM with a roundtable titled “The Essentials of Series: The Art Team – Creating Worlds for Series.” This discussion will delve into how a series’ visual identity is constructed and the roles played by makeup, costume design, and art direction in creating characters and narrative universes. Participants will include Yolanda Piña and Nacho Díaz, nominated for Best Makeup and Hair for *Anatomía de un instante*; Helena Sanchís, nominated for Best Costume for *La vida breve*; and Idoia Esteban, nominated for Best Art Direction for *Superestar*; moderated by Fidela Navarro, founder of the Professional Circle of the Gold Rings Awards.
Following this, at 11:30 AM in the same venue, a masterclass entitled “Creating the Impossible: Post-Production and VFX in Series” will be held, featuring VFX professional Fran Belda. He will explain how post-production can expand settings, recreate eras, resolve filming challenges, and generate images that appear completely natural to viewers. Fran Belda is nominated for Best Post-Production and Visual Effects for *En fin* at the Gold Rings Awards, and has worked on series such as *Muertos S.L.* and *Machos Alfa*.
On Saturday, 20th June at 11:00 AM, the roundtable “Platforms and Channels: What Are They Looking for Today to Produce and Acquire Series?” will take place at TEA Tenerife. Executives from some of the most prominent companies in the sector will share their views on the current market, consumption trends, production models, and the projects that are generating the most interest. This is a unique opportunity to understand what those who decide which series reach screens are seeking. Specific participants will include Susana Herreras, Head of Spanish Series and Executive Producer at Movistar Plus; Silvia Cotino, Deputy Director of Sales and Business Development at Mediterráneo Mediaset España Group; and Nieves Fernández, Executive Producer of Fiction and Programming at RTVE, moderated by journalist David Martos, director of Kinótico.
Networking Opportunities
At 12:00 PM, also on 20th June but at MUNA (Museum of Nature and Archaeology), there will be one-to-one professional meetings as a complement to the activities programme. These meetings will connect production companies responsible for some of the nominated series with audiovisual sector companies in the Canary Islands. The aim is to promote networking, facilitate experience exchange, and explore potential collaboration paths in areas such as project development, co-production, audiovisual services, and future filming opportunities in the Canaries. This initiative seeks to strengthen the ties between the national industry and the business fabric of the islands, generating new opportunities for collaboration.
Industry Insights
Finally, at 12:30 PM in TEA, there will be a discussion titled “How are the Series that Shape the Industry Created?” This session will highlight that great series result from the concerted efforts of producers capable of developing ambitious projects, connecting with the audience, and adapting to a constantly evolving market. It will feature leaders from some of the production companies behind prominent titles in recent Spanish fiction, sharing their experiences, development processes, production models, and outlook for the future of the sector. Participants will include Pepe Ripoll, Executive Producer at Buendía Estudios (*Poquita Fe*), and Andrea H. Catalá, Executive Producer at Suma Content (*Superestar*), moderated by Carmen Fernández Villalba, screenwriter, author, and promoter of the Circle of Professionals in Spanish Series.
