The patron saint festivities of Martín de Yeltes, dedicated to San Antonio, are one of the most significant events of the year in this town in Salamanca. In 2025, they were celebrated from 12th to 16th June, combining religious traditions, popular activities, music, cuisine, and bullfighting events.
Tradition and Community Participation
The festival commenced with the traditional chupinazo (firework display) and various musical performances. On the main day, 13th June, local residents took part in the floral diana (morning wake-up call), the solemn mass in honour of San Antonio, and a communal feast organised by the Town Council. The day also featured children’s activities, costume competitions, group outings, and a large evening fiesta.
Music, Cuisine, and Festive Atmosphere
The streets of the municipality were filled with the lively atmosphere brought by charangas (street bands), orchestras, and musical performances. Among the most popular activities were communal barbecues, group dinners, and a massive paella gathering that saw more than 400 participants, reinforcing the inclusive spirit of these festivities.
Passion for Bullfighting
The bull runs and related events remained a major draw within the programme. Hundreds of enthusiasts attended various bullfighting events, which enjoyed substantial attendance throughout the festive weekend.
A Celebration that Keeps Tradition Alive
The celebrations of San Antonio serve as a meeting point for residents, family, and visitors, helping to sustain the customs of the Campo de Yeltes and strengthening the cultural identity of the locality. The blend of religious ceremonies, popular activities, and traditional festivities makes these celebrations one of the most prominent events in the region.
