Sixteen streets in the Southwest area of Santa Cruz will soon see improvements to their pavements and road surface thanks to the approval of works that will last until 30 November. The local Government Board has greenlit the awarding of a new contract based on Lot 3 of the municipal framework agreement for the execution of urban development, infrastructure, and road rehabilitation in the district. This initiative will include a total investment of €564,028.
The project, awarded to the UTE Firmes Santa Cruz, will facilitate ongoing works to enhance road surfaces and rehabilitate pavements in the areas of Tíncer, Barranco Grande, and Alisios in Santa María del Mar. The streets scheduled for works include El Timple, Hornero, Malvasía, San Román, María Luisa, San Lorenzo, Rajita, Conde, Ruiseñor, Transversal Los Peregrinos, Autillo, Chaxiraxi, Cirche, Ahoren, Bilma, and a section of Avenida Cruz de Tíncer.
This new approval is part of the municipal strategy to progressively renew the road network across all neighbourhoods, enhancing road safety, improving mobility, and ensuring better urban infrastructure for residents.
The Mayor of the city, José Manuel Bermúdez, emphasised, “We are continuing to advance our commitment to improve the state of the streets in all districts, with planning that allows us to act swiftly where it is most needed.” He added, “This framework agreement gives us the capacity to respond quickly to the maintenance needs of our roads and to keep investing in the enhancement of public spaces that thousands of people utilise every day.”
Investment Efforts
Carlos Tarife, the Councillor for Public Services, explained that “the contract award will allow us to continue executing asphalt and surface rehabilitation works in the Southwest district, maintaining our investment efforts to improve the municipal road network.”
He also noted, “The aim is to reach all neighbourhoods in Santa Cruz, acting in a planned manner and prioritising those routes that show the most wear due to time and traffic.”
Javier Rivero, the Councillor for the Southwest district, remarked that “this investment represents a significant improvement for the quality of life of residents in the Southwest. We will enhance streets that endure intense daily use and necessitate surface renewal to provide greater comfort and safety.”
The approval of this contract continues the set of initiatives propelled by the local council for the improvement of road infrastructure. In fact, last week the Government Board approved an investment of over €2.5 million for the asphalt of 17 streets in the municipality, including two specific initiatives on Juan Pérez Delgado Nijota and Campoamor streets in the Centro-Ifara district, which will also be executed through the municipal framework agreement.
Other Areas
Through the framework agreement for urban development, infrastructure, and surface rehabilitation works, the council will continue to approve new interventions in various locations within the municipality in the coming weeks, incorporating initiatives in Salud-La Salle, Ofra-Costa Sur, and Anaga, with the goal of further enhancing road safety, mobility, and accessibility.
