The patron saint festivities of Martín de Yeltes, dedicated to San Antonio, are one of the most significant events of the year in this Salmantine locality. In 2025, they were held from 12th to 16th June, blending religious tradition with popular activities, music, gastronomy, and bullfighting events.
Tradition and Community Participation
The festivities began with the traditional chupinazo and various musical performances. The main day, 13th June, saw local residents partake in the diana floreada, a solemn mass in honour of San Antonio, and a community banquet organised by the Town Hall. There were also children’s activities, costume contests, parades, and a large evening fiesta.
Music, Gastronomy, and Festive Atmosphere
The streets of the municipality buzzed with activity, featuring brass bands, orchestras, and live performances. Among the most popular activities were communal barbecues, communal dinners, and a massive paella that brought together over 400 people, affirming the participatory spirit of the festivities.
Passion for Bullfighting
The bull runs and bullfighting events remained one of the main attractions of the programme. Hundreds of enthusiasts flocked to the various bullfighting dates, which drew significant crowds throughout the festive weekend.
Traditions that Remain Alive
The celebrations of San Antonio serve as a meeting point for locals, families, and visitors, preserving the customs of the Campo de Yeltes and reinforcing the cultural identity of the locality. The fusion of religious acts, popular activities, and traditional festivities makes these celebrations one of the most notable events in the region.
