Improvements to the El Rosario Coast: Budget Revision for Repairs Following Storm Damage

Budget Modification Approved

The El Rosario Town Council approved a budget modification of €2.8 million aimed primarily at financing various emergency works currently being carried out along the municipality’s coast. These works are essential following several natural phenomena that have severely impacted the coastline.

The agreement was passed with support from IR-Verdes, PSOE, CC, and Vox, while the PP voted against it. Mayor Escolástico Gil (IR-Verdes) clarified that this modification is funded by the treasury surplus to cover various general expenses, including emergency works at the Radazul breakwater, in the Charco de Tabaiba area, and on the Costa Caricia road due to Storm Therese. There will also be funds allocated for securing a slope in Tabaiba Baja following a significant rockfall.

Ongoing Actions

“All these actions are already underway because we immediately focused on resolving the issues to ensure the safety of our residents, and we urgently need to allocate funds for these works that were obviously not included in the budget,” the local leader explained. The estimated cost of these actions is around €1.7 million, and the council will apply for funding from the Ministry of Territorial Policy to cover 50% of the damages to municipal infrastructure and the provincial road network.

Another key point discussed in the council meeting was the naming of a street after ‘Candelaria Aguiar Díaz (Yaya)’ in recognition of the president of the Llano del Moro Wrestling Club. This agreement was unanimously approved.
