Santa Cruz de Tenerife Ensures Safe Swimming at Las Teresitas Beach
Santa Cruz de Tenerife’s local government has confirmed that the municipality is ready for the busy summer season with safe swimming conditions. Recent official analyses from the Canary Islands’ health surveillance programme have reported that Las Teresitas beach and the swimming areas in Valleseco are in excellent condition.
The municipality issued a statement detailing that updated reports from June 22 indicate that Las Teresitas, Valleseco-Los Charcos, and Valleseco-El Bloque all meet the necessary safety standards for swimming, with Las Teresitas and Valleseco-El Bloque maintaining an “Excellent” classification for water quality.
These assessments are part of the Canary Islands government’s official bathing water surveillance programme, which conducts sample testing, analyses water quality, and issues health ratings. The council highlighted that during visual inspections, no debris, oils, foam, floating materials, algae, or other elements that could compromise sanitary conditions were found.
In recent years, improvements at Las Teresitas have included the rehabilitation of the breakwater, enhanced access, accessible toilets and changing facilities, and the implementation of an intelligent traffic and parking management system. Additionally, new concessions to modernise beach kiosks and services have been awarded, alongside environmental conservation initiatives, such as monitoring angel sharks that breed in the area, and increased safety measures during the summer months.
