Fred. Olsen Alps of La Gomera Kicks Off with over 100 Players
The Fred. Olsen Alps of La Gomera 2026 has officially launched at Tecina Golf this week, attracting over 100 players from more than 15 countries. This marks the event’s sixth edition, solidifying its status as a key fixture on the Alps Tour calendar and making La Gomera a hub for European professional golf.
The event was attended by notable figures including Javier Gervás, general director of JGolf, and tournament director Alessandro Pia from the Alps Tour. They were joined by Primos Pusnik and Andrés Marín from Fred. Olsen S.A., Diego Cambreleng, president of the Real Federación Canaria de Golf, Adasat Reyes, vice president of the Cabildo de La Gomera, and Angélica Padilla Herrera, mayor of San Sebastián de La Gomera.
During the presentation, representatives highlighted the tournament’s significance for promoting sport and tourism on the island, showcasing Tecina Golf as a recognised European venue.
Marín expressed pride in hosting the tournament again, thanking organiser JGolf and Alps Tour for their continued trust. He noted the tournament’s prestigious history and impressive participating players, including Álvaro Quirós and Alejandro Cañizares, emphasising the growing reputation of the Alps Tour.
Cambreleng praised Fred. Olsen’s commitment to golf in La Gomera, while Reyes highlighted the island’s appeal for tourism and sport, attributing the event’s success to collaborative efforts that enhance La Gomera’s attractiveness.
The mayor welcomed participants, acknowledging the tournament’s role in boosting the island’s international profile. She emphasized that this event offers more than just a sporting competition, providing a valuable opportunity to market La Gomera globally and reinforce its position as a destination for sports tourism.
With everything in place, Tecina Golf is set to become the epicentre of professional golf this week, featuring a 54-hole competition that is crucial for this season’s development.
The Fred. Olsen Alps of La Gomera is supported by multiple entities, including the Real Federación Española de Golf and Promotur Turismo de Canarias, with JGolf serving as the tournament’s organiser.
