Los Realejos Launches Fourth Edition of DiverCampus
Los Realejos has kicked off the fourth edition of DiverCampus, a free municipal programme aimed at fostering inclusion, community bonding, and educational leisure for children and young people. This year features a record participation of 50 individuals, comprising 37 with disabilities and 13 without.
The initiative runs from 1 July to 4 September, every weekday, between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM at the Casa del Emprendedor. Its main goal is to provide a safe and accessible environment tailored to the needs of participants, while also supporting families, particularly those with children or young people who have recognised disabilities.
A team of 12 professionals is involved, including nursing assistants, physiotherapists, social workers, educators, psychologists, and social integration experts. They have also received additional training from local organisations such as Afanes Canarias and Visión Azul Autismo, as well as in first aid.
The programme encourages equal participation for individuals with and without disabilities, promoting autonomy, personal and social development, social skills, and healthy living habits.
