The Tenerife Cabildo has approved a cooperative agreement with Carlos III University of Madrid to facilitate external academic internships for students. The announcement was made by José Miguel Ruano, the cabinet’s president, alongside Vice-President Lope Afonso.
This agreement allows undergraduate and master’s students to gain practical experience in various areas of the Cabildo and its public sector. Such opportunities are aimed at enhancing their academic training through both curricular and extracurricular internships.
Ruano emphasised the importance of practical training, stating that it is vital for young people to develop their potential and transition into the job market more confidently. He expressed the Cabildo’s desire to welcome university talent and provide a real learning environment where students can apply their knowledge.
Additionally, Ruano noted that this agreement strengthens collaborations with universities nationwide and reflects the Cabildo’s commitment to modern, open governance that generates opportunities for young people. He highlighted the importance of attracting talent, sharing knowledge, and preparing professionals for future challenges.
The agreement ensures that the internships remain strictly educational, with no employment relationship or financial cost to the Cabildo. Each student will be assigned a tutor from both the Cabildo and the university to oversee their educational process.
Through this initiative, the Tenerife Cabildo reinforces its commitment to working with the Spanish university system, focusing on education, employability, and fostering young talent to drive the island’s economic and social development.
