Weather Forecast for Tenerife: Thursday Update
Tenerife will experience low clouds in the northeast on Thursday, with clearer skies expected during the day. Temperatures will remain stable or drop slightly, with highs potentially exceeding 30 degrees Celsius in some areas of the southern metropolitan region, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, temperatures are forecasted to range from a minimum of 22 degrees to a maximum of 30 degrees. Northerly winds will be moderate, with stronger gusts possible in the southern parts of the metropolitan area.
The Canary Islands will enjoy slightly milder conditions compared to recent days, though heat will still persist in some regions. Maximum temperatures will not exceed 32 degrees across the archipelago, with low clouds dominating the northern parts of the higher islands.
In Tenerife, cloud cover will remain in the northeast below 900 to 1,100 metres. Clearer spells are anticipated midday, especially in areas exposed to the trade winds. Aemet also notes a chance of light drizzle overnight in the northeastern highlands, although any precipitation is expected to be minimal.
Elsewhere in Tenerife, skies will generally be mostly clear, with some clouds in the north, south, and west during dawn and late afternoon.
Temperatures will see little change or experience a slight drop, particularly in the central highlands, where decreases could be more pronounced. However, warmth will still linger in the lower southern parts, with some areas likely surpassing 30 degrees, urging residents to stay hydrated and avoid excessive exertion during peak hours.
Wind conditions will also be notable, as moderate northerly winds could pose challenges in exposed areas, especially in the southern metropolitan region where very strong gusts are possible.
Looking to other islands, Gran Canaria will start the day with low clouds in the north, along with a slight chance of light drizzle overnight. The rest of the island is expected to be mostly clear, with slight temperature drops but still reaching highs of 30-32 degrees in the southern, eastern, and western valleys.
Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will have cloudy conditions at the start but will clear in the south and east as the day progresses, with local highs nearing 30 degrees.
On La Gomera, the north will be overcast below 900 metres with clear spells later in the day, while the south will remain mostly clear, also nearing 30 degrees in the valleys. La Palma and El Hierro will have cloudy intervals in the north and east but are expected to clear as the day continues, with temperatures slightly cooler, especially at higher elevations. Northeasterly winds will be strong at times in exposed regions across Gran Canaria, La Gomera, La Palma, and El Hierro.
