Adepac, an animal protection charity in Tenerife, expects to receive a government grant soon, though it must first address some administrative issues. The Cabildo de Tenerife announced that payment is on hold until the charity corrects deficiencies identified in its documentation for previous funding.
This clarification follows Adepac’s public claims of facing financial difficulties despite continuing its essential services, which include rescuing and providing veterinary care for abandoned animals. Recently, the charity helped rescue around twenty dogs in northern Tenerife.
Lope Afonso, the Cabildo’s first vice-president, stated that while the grant awarded to Adepac is approved, regulations prevent any transfer of funds until the previous aid is properly justified. Last month, the Cabildo had requested the charity to rectify or supply missing documents, as some information was either incorrect or incomplete.
Once Adepac submits the required details, technicians will verify compliance with the established criteria. If all is in order, the Cabildo anticipates the payment could be made within days.
The charity’s appeal for timely financial support came just a day before. Adepac highlighted that, although the grant was approved in May, they have not yet received the funds, which has affected their ability to cover basic expenses like food and veterinary treatments for the animals they care for. Both parties now agree that resolving the outstanding administrative matter is crucial for unlocking the much-needed financial support.
