Cabildo de Tenerife Promises Prompt Aid for Animal Charity Adepac
The Cabildo de Tenerife announced that financial aid for the animal charity Adepac will be available “in days” after the organisation corrects documentation errors linked to a previous grant. This was confirmed by Lope Afonso, the island’s first vice president, during a press conference responding to Adepac’s claims of “financial mistreatment”.
Adepac had publicly expressed concerns over its financial situation and called for more support from the local administration to care for animals in its custody. The charity, which recently rescued over twenty dogs in northern Tenerife, linked its financial needs to its ongoing responsibilities.
Afonso clarified that while the aid has been approved, the Cabildo cannot process the payment until Adepac rectifies specific administrative documents. Last month, the charity was requested to address several issues, including missing or incorrect paperwork.
Once Adepac submits the corrected information, it will undergo review to ensure compliance with grant conditions. The Cabildo assured that payment will follow shortly if everything is in order.
Adepac acknowledged that while the grant was approved in May, bureaucratic hurdles have delayed the release of funds, which hampers its daily operations and complicates issues related to feeding and caring for rescued animals. The charity emphasised the urgent need for the local administration to provide financial assistance for essential services in animal protection, especially given the heightened demand for their support in cases of abandonment or mistreatment.
