Drexmin Expands Focus Beyond Fire Protection to Sustainability Efforts

Tenerife-based Drexmin, traditionally centred on fire protection for 30 years, is broadening its scope by incorporating sustainability as a core commitment. The company’s alignment with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was detailed in a 2026 report produced with FEMETE, highlighting various green industry and corporate social responsibility initiatives.

In the last five years, Drexmin has invested over €420,000 in environmental actions, reinforcing efficiency as a central element of its operations. The firm has used photovoltaic installations since 2008, significantly covering its energy consumption with renewable sources. Additionally, they have upgraded their fleet to include electric and hybrid vehicles. Notably, they recharge fire extinguishers with self-produced nitrogen to help reduce their carbon footprint. Their efforts also include certified waste management and sourcing sustainable suppliers, all contributing to goals related to clean energy and responsible consumption.

On the social front, Drexmin has spent approximately €57,000 on social initiatives over the past five years, using sport as a tool to promote health and equality. Since 2023, they have supported the ADEIN Tenerife wheelchair basketball club, which has achieved notable success this season, including winning the Copa BSR de España and competing in the EUROCUP3. This partnership underscores the need for greater visibility and support for adaptive sports.

Drexmin’s commitment extends to youth and the natural environment through its sponsorship of the Los Lomos Trail. As the main sponsor for the DREXMIN LOMITOS KIDS event, the company aims to foster healthy living and encourage outdoor sports among younger generations.

The company prioritises local employment, with 80% of its suppliers sourced from the surrounding area, and holds certifications in quality and environmental management. Their affiliations with organisations like UNICEF and Cruz Roja underline their commitment to decent work and strong institutions.

Drexmin’s approach demonstrates that sustainability and profitability can coexist, integral to their operations rather than an ancillary focus. As organisations are increasingly held accountable for their impact beyond product quality, Drexmin continues to emphasise fire protection while also prioritising environmental care, inclusive sport, and community cohesion.
