International Ocean Film Tour Comes to Tenerife
The University of La Laguna in Santa Cruz de Tenerife will host the 12th edition of the International Ocean Film Tour on Sunday, 5th July, at 6:00 PM. This festival will showcase five international films focusing on adventure, emotions, and environmental awareness.
Produced by Kinema Producciones, the lineup features stories from six countries across four continents. Notably, “Christa Funk: Passion for the Waves” profiles a pioneering female surf photographer, who’s the face of this year’s official poster.
Another highlighted film, “The Last Dive,” recounts Terry Kennedy’s extraordinary bond with a manta ray over four decades. “A Different Beast” follows siblings Lachlan, Ewan, and Jamie Maclean on their non-stop journey across the Pacific by rowing boat.
Additionally, “Up the Coast” chronicles world kiteboarding champion Kevin Langeree’s quest for waves in South Africa, while “Home is the Ocean” shares the Schwörer family’s adventure living aboard a sailboat while travelling the globe.
This event is part of a nationwide tour, featuring 20 screenings and 230 locations across Europe. After Tenerife, the tour will travel to various cities in Spain and Portugal, concluding in Lanzarote in October.
Originating in Germany and produced by Moving Adventures GmbH, the festival in Spain, Andorra, and Portugal is supported by Kinema Producciones, the Cabildo de Tenerife’s Department of Natural Resources, Sustainability, Security and Emergencies, the Autonomous Sports Organisation, the Musical Activities Organisation of La Laguna, and the university itself.
