Teaser Released for ‘La Movida Canaria: Chacho Chacho Live’
Coinciding with the celebration of World Music Day, the teaser for ‘La Movida Canaria: Chacho Chacho Live’ has been released. This upcoming documentary, set to air on CanariasPlay, highlights the extraordinary moment currently being experienced by music from the Canary Islands, along with the generation of artists, producers, and creators who are taking the archipelago’s talent beyond its borders.
A Creative Journey
Beyond the artists who have accumulated millions of streams and filled venues both within and outside the islands, the available teaser on the YouTube channel @canariastieneelflow showcases a journey through a creative and vibrant Canary Islands filled with music. This music emerges from neighbourhoods, squares, studios, and small venues where the great stories begin to take shape.
Filmed in Madrid, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, and La Gomera, the documentary delves into the creative ecosystem that supports this movement. It pays special attention to the sense of community that has accompanied the urban scene’s growth in the islands. Through collaborations, mutual support, and a shared ambition to progress together, a network of relationships has been woven that transcends the purely musical, explaining much of the strength and scope currently witnessed in the canary scene.
The Historic Festival
A central moment in the documentary is the recounting of the events at the ‘Canarias Tiene el Flow’ festival, held on 14 May 2026, in Madrid, which sold out with a line-up consisting exclusively of Canary Islands artists. This historic event brought together several thousand attendees and confirmed the ability of a scene that has managed to connect with audiences across the country. Artists who graced the iconic La Riviera stage that night included La Pantera—who was unexpectedly joined by Lucho RK—Juseph, Don Patricio, Sara Socas, Ale Acosta, Daniela Garsal, Julia Rodríguez, Ventura, Los Blody, and O.M. Domínguez.
Beyond a Great Concert
However, ‘La Movida Canaria: Chacho Chacho Live’ goes beyond a mere concert to analyse what lies behind this collective success. Among the emerging artists featured in the film are Kinewa, Kajed, Deyde, and J. Ramos. These representatives of a new generation, which is significantly larger and beginning to carve its path, showcase the evolving landscape. The story also focuses on young producer Jota En El Beat, whose vision highlights the essential role of those who work behind the scenes. Joining him are artists like Alberdi and La Gocha, who provide context and perspective on the evolution of the Canary scene.
A Strong Sense of Identity
One aspect reflected in the film is that this new generation of urban artists embraces their Canarian identity, singing and expressing themselves in their native dialect. They do not hide their origins or accents; rather, they celebrate them as a badge of honour.
Voices from the Community
The documentary explores the neighbourhoods where some of its protagonists grew up, such as Ofra, La Villa (La Gomera), Vecindario, and Añaza, among others. It provides access to the studios where their projects take shape and gathers in-depth testimonies about their personal and creative experiences. The result is an intimate look at a cultural movement that has transformed the musical landscape of the islands and continues to expand its reach both within and beyond Spain.
‘La Movida Canaria: Chacho Chacho Live’ is produced by Suelta El Mando Factoría Audiovisual, with sponsorship from the Government of the Canary Islands and Canarias Play, and collaboration from CajaSiete, Clipper, Binter, Arehucas, Volcanic Xperience, and the Casa de Canarias in Madrid.
