Approximately 8,235 individuals are vying for one of the 955 teaching positions in the Canary Islands this Saturday. The examinations will take place across 25 educational institutions on five islands, targeting roles in the teaching bodies for Primary Education, Secondary Education, Official Language Schools, Art Schools, and Conservatories.
Examination Details
The assessments will occur in 25 educational centres spread across Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and La Palma, covering various educational roles as communicated by the regional Department of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity, and Sports of the Canary Government.
In this call for applications, 932 teaching positions are being offered, alongside an additional 23 positions under an extraordinary procedure for the stabilisation of the bodies of Music and Performing Arts.
Candidate Distribution
Among the candidates, 6,686 are participating in the examinations for the Primary Education body, which has the highest number of available positions at 686. Furthermore:
- 833 candidates are taking the tests for the Secondary Education body, which has 192 available positions.
- 162 candidates are competing for roles in Official Language Schools, offering seven positions.
- 180 individuals are undertaking examinations for Art Schools, with 15 roles available.
Moreover, the extraordinary stabilisation procedure for Conservatories has attracted 374 participants for a total of 23 positions: nine for the body of Music and Performing Arts Professors and 14 for Music and Performing Arts Teachers.
Recognition of Efforts
The General Director of Personnel and Teacher Training, Mónica Ramírez, emphasised that “behind each of these examinations are months of study, effort, and dedication from thousands of candidates” who are presented with the opportunity to “take an important step” in their professional journey.
She also expressed gratitude to the examination boards, management teams, and collaborating staff that “make such a large-scale initiative possible.”
