Upcoming TEDxLa Laguna Event
La Laguna will once again become a meeting point for ideas, creativity, and dissemination with the celebration of a new edition of TEDxLa Laguna on Saturday, 20th June. Organised under an official TED licence and supported by the La Laguna City Council, the event will gather eleven speakers with local, national, and international prominence from diverse fields such as science, gastronomy, sport, music, communication, and entrepreneurship.
Event Presentation
The event was presented this Friday at the Casa de los Capitanes, featuring the acting councillor for Commerce and Tourism, Fran Hernández; the organiser and licensee of TEDxLa Laguna, Edgar Sabina; and the rapper, singer, songwriter, and journalist Sara Socas, one of the prominent participants of this edition.
Councillor Fran Hernández remarked that “TEDxLa Laguna is an event that perfectly aligns with the identity of our municipality—a university city, a World Heritage site, historically linked to knowledge. Bringing together figures from various fields here allows us to continue projecting a modern, dynamic, and innovative image of La Laguna.”
Impact & Opportunities
Hernández further added that “this initiative also has a significant impact on the municipality, as it attracts visitors who come to enjoy the talks and take the opportunity to explore our historic centre, shop at our establishments, and discover the gastronomic and commercial wealth of La Laguna. It’s an opportunity to showcase all that we are and all that we offer as a destination.”

This year’s edition will feature chef Seve Díaz; sommelier and writer Meritxell Falgueras; former swimmer and speaker David Meca; singer Idaira Fernández; rapper and journalist Sara Socas; farmer and educator Sergio Rodríguez “Nito”; biochemists Elena Pérez and María Hernández-Alcalá, members of FuturLife21; astrophysicist Héctor Socas; businesswoman and free diver Amanda Negrín; and comedian and presenter Aarón Gómez.

We have sold out all tickets before the event, demonstrating that TEDxLa Laguna is establishing itself as a key event in the Canary Islands for anyone interested in ideas, innovation, and stories that provoke reflection and conversation.”
The organiser also emphasised that “one of the great values of this edition is the diversity of profiles participating. We will have voices from science, gastronomy, music, sport, and entrepreneurship on stage, proving that great ideas can emerge from any sector of society.”
