SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 10 June (EUROPA PRESS) –
Over 500 individuals from vulnerable groups and religious organisations will gather on Friday for the route that Pope Leo XIV will take from Calle Viana to the Bishopric after his meeting with organisations that support migrants.
At approximately 11:10, the Pope will leave Plaza del Cristo in a specially adapted electric buggy, which will occasionally allow him to greet standing members of the public.
During the journey, he will acknowledge both vulnerable groups located at various points along the route and those who will be gathered along the way, as confirmed by the Bishopric.
Participants in the Event
Among those present will be representatives from various active and contemplative religious congregations, as well as members of institutions dedicated to social care.
- Franciscans of Cruz Blanca
- Little Sisters of the Abandoned Elderly
- Residents from the care home managed by these nuns
- Other groups involved in supporting the elderly, sick, and those at risk of exclusion
Excitement for the Pope’s Visit
The upcoming visit from the Pope is generating “deep excitement and joy,” particularly among the elderly, many of whom never imagined they would experience such an event. They express being “profoundly happy” at the opportunity to see him pass so close to their homes.
“I never thought I would experience this. We are very far away, and yet he comes to see us,” said a resident of the La Laguna care home.
