Santa Cruz de Tenerife Music Festival Concerts Cancelled Due to Papal Visit
The Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has officially suspended the authorisation for the concerts scheduled for this Friday as part of the Tenerife Music Festival. This decision was made in light of the visit by Pope Leo XIV. The festival was set to take place on 12 and 13 June at the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
### Artist Line-up Changes
On that day, performances by Rels B, Nathy Peluso, and El Arrebato were programmed to take place in the Los Llanos Dock, as part of the festival’s agenda in Santa Cruz.
### Alert Issued
The port authority announced this suspension via a statement obtained by Atlántico Hoy, following an update to the Territorial Civil Protection Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands (PLATECA), which raised the alert level by the Emergency Management Directorate of the Canary Government.
According to the document, the decision is a response to concerns regarding mobility and the expected concentrations of people due to Pope Leo XIV’s visit to Gran Canaria and Tenerife. The Port Authority also confirmed that all sound, light, or other tests that could interfere with the papal visit will be suspended on Friday, 12 June, from 8:00 to 17:00.
### International Artists Planned
The organisers of the Tenerife Music Festival have informed EFE that they are currently assessing the situation and coordinating with all parties involved before releasing an official statement. On Saturday, when the restrictions are no longer in effect, performances by Camilo, Pablo Alborán, Ana Mena, and Iván Ferreiro are scheduled, as confirmed by the festival organisers.
