A man is facing a four-year prison sentence for sexually assaulting a teenage girl as she returned home from school in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The Provincial Prosecutor’s Office has filed charges against him after he allegedly waited for several days near the educational institute before grabbing the girl by the waist and touching her inappropriately. The incident ended when the girl called out for help, attracting the attention of a passerby.
The girl’s grandfather reported the incident to the police, and both her mother and a judicial authority confirmed the accusations in court. As an urgent precautionary measure, the court has imposed a restraining order, prohibiting the man from approaching the girl within 200 metres or contacting her.
Prosecutors have classified the act as a sexual assault on a minor under 16 and are also seeking €1,000 in compensation for the girl to cover emotional damages, along with any necessary medical or psychological treatment.
The trial is scheduled for Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
