The Canarian Health Service’s General Directorate of Blood Donation and Hemotherapy has urged residents to donate blood regularly—at least twice a year—to ensure sufficient reserves for surgeries, cancer treatments, transplants, emergencies, and other hospital care needs across the Canary Islands.
In a statement, officials emphasised that blood and its components cannot be artificially produced, making voluntary and regular donations essential for maintaining availability. Each donation can help multiple patients, offering critical support to those facing serious medical conditions.
To encourage participation, the Directorate will deploy mobile blood donation units next week and keep fixed donation points operational across all islands.
In Tenerife, a mobile unit will be at Añaza Shopping Centre on Monday from 9:15 to 13:45 and 15:45 to 20:30, and at the Meridiano Shopping Centre on Wednesday from 9:45 to 14:00 and 16:45 to 20:30. Additionally, on Monday, there will be a donation campaign in San Juan de la Rambla, with the mobile unit at the Ayuntamiento from 10:00 to 13:00 and at Plaza Rosario Oramas from 16:30 to 20:15.
Other donation opportunities include Alcampo Shopping Centre in La Laguna on Tuesday and a campaign in Los Realejos from 30 June to 3 July, with various donation times in local venues.
Throughout the week, the fixed donation point at Multicentro El Trompo in La Orotava will be open and an additional unit will be at Mercado Nuestra Señora de África in Santa Cruz on 1 July.
For those in Gran Canaria, donation drives are planned in San Bartolomé de Tirajana next week, including a mobile unit on the days specified.
Fuerteventura continues its donation campaign in Pájara until 1 July, while Lanzarote will have donations at Deiland Shopping Centre on Monday and Tuesday.
Residents are encouraged to take part in these initiatives to support their local health services.
