Granca’s Revamp Underway for 2026/27 Season
Gran Canaria basketball club, Granca, is making significant strides in its overhaul ahead of the 2026/27 season. With official appointments yet to be confirmed, the club is set to return to the top tier of Spanish basketball after relegation to Primera FEB.
Francesc Solana has been selected to lead the sports department on a two-year contract, lasting until June 2028. This appointment signals the club’s intention to build a long-term project rather than focusing solely on immediate promotion.
Bruno Savignani is also set to join as head coach, initially signing for one year. However, his contract will be extended automatically if the team regains its spot in Liga Endesa by the end of next season.
Following a challenging period, the club is keen to design an entirely new squad. The sports management and coaching team will oversee this transformation after a series of player departures, including Isaiah Wong and Eric Vila.
Regarding existing players, the club has informed Pierre Pelos, Carlos Alocén, Kur Kuath, and Nicolás Brussino that they must negotiate their contracts if they wish to leave. The club will not allow free exits, underscoring a strategy to maintain the value of their contracts and prevent a talent drain during this critical rebuilding summer.
The situation varies for each player. Alocén appears likely to remain part of the new project, while Pelos is open to staying depending on the club’s plans. Kuath is exploring other opportunities, and Brussino’s future is yet to be determined, with possible movements expected soon.
In addition to the first team, youth players are also marked for change, with some heading to the NCAA in the US this summer. The club will gain financial compensation for these exits, which will help bolster its youth development resources.
As Granca gears up for the new chapter, a clear foundation is being laid, ensuring stability and a focused aim for the upcoming season.
