The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Council launched its summer programme for 2026, called Distrito Joven, on Wednesday, June 23. The announcement took place during a quarterly youth initiative meeting at Charcos de Valleseco, bringing together young people for a day of outdoor activities and community bonding.
This year’s programme features over 20 activities aimed at the local youth, focusing on training, creativity, sport, well-being, technology, and environmental engagement.
Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez highlighted that Distrito Joven has become a vital resource for providing young people with opportunities for leisure, learning, and personal growth. He stated, “This summer programme reflects our commitment to an active and engaged youth, offering enriching experiences that blend learning with enjoyment.”
Charín González, the Councillor for Youth and Education, noted the diverse and innovative nature of the activities, which encourage young people to explore new interests and build connections. She emphasized the focus on sustainability, respect for the environment, creativity, physical activity, and responsible use of technology.
### July: Creativity, Nature, and Community
July will kick off with artistic workshops like Urban Sketching and “Create Your Own Fanzine” to foster creativity. Activities will also include hikes like the Valleseco Trail and an Intermunicipal Camping Trail at Casa Manresa in Tacoronte, aimed at promoting youth cooperation and environmental education.
Additionally, Distrito Joven will take part in the 2026 Tenerife Lan Party, showcasing municipal initiatives and resources to attendees.
### August: Healthy Leisure, Sport, and Technology
In August, Las Teresitas beach will host healthy leisure activities such as Morning and Evening Young Events, featuring creative workshops and sports. The programme will also include a Clay Sculpture Workshop, a Boat Trip to Antequera, and an Intergenerational Camping Trip in Cueva Bermeja, highlighting rural engagement.
Tech lovers can sign up for the Total Gaming workshop, which aims to develop teamwork and strategic skills.
### September: Sport, Adventure, and Summer Finale
September will offer sports activities like a Padel introduction class, along with creative tech workshops such as Digital Drawing and Anime Character Creation using Blender. A highlight of the month will be the ascent of Teide Peak, including a night stay at the Altavista Refuge, combining adventure with environmental education.
The month will end with the Gaming Championship at Casa de la Juventud Lázaro Siliuto and a major quarterly event, Summer Ending, at Las Teresitas beach. This will include water sports, environmental activities, games, and community-building exercises.
As a final summer event, participants will visit Siam Park, a much-anticipated activity for many.
With this programme, the Santa Cruz Council underscores its commitment to creating spaces for youth engagement and development, promoting healthy leisure alternatives that foster personal growth, social interaction, and new skills.
All activities are free, but spaces are limited. Registration will be announced progressively via the official channels of Distrito Joven and the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Council.
