Canaries’ President Sends Condolences Following Venezuela Earthquakes
Fernando Clavijo, the President of the Canary Islands, has expressed his deep sadness over the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela, resulting in over 30 fatalities and 700 injuries.
On Thursday, Clavijo announced on social media that he has suspended his official engagements to monitor the situation closely. He is in ongoing contact with local Canary Islands organisations and the Spanish Consulate in Venezuela.
“The uncertainty is immense. The Canary Islands government stands in solidarity with our sister country, especially with the many Canarians living there and their families. I send all my love and support to Venezuela during this difficult time,” he stated.
