With the arrival of summer, many are looking for spots in Tenerife where they can enjoy a refreshing swim and a good meal. At Punta del Hidalgo, you’ll find El Borgoñón de Sandra, a guachinche located by the coast, renowned for its traditional Canarian cuisine, affordable prices, and proximity to the area’s natural pools.
The content creators @guachinchesmodernos have visited and assert that it is a must-stop every summer. “Good, beautiful and super reasonably priced,” they note.
Canarian Cuisine by the Sea
The menu focuses on simple recipes made with traditional products. They started with the potato salad and tuna salad to whet their appetites. Other options include fish churros, sardines, and carne fiesta.
The English-style eggs were another selected dish, which has been offered for years and has become one of the establishment’s most popular dishes. “The first time we tried English-style eggs was here a few years ago,” they mention in the video.
One of the most surprising dishes was the black pig milanesa from Tegueste, an unusual dish that caught the creators’ attention. “If you come here and don’t find this dish, it’s because they only had it today; they’re not sure if it will stay on the menu,” they explain.
A Space to Enjoy in Summer
To conclude their experience, they chose to try the coffee cake and noted that they believe it is the first year they have had homemade desserts, “because they usually have ice cream.” They paid 46.90 euros for five people, highlighting that the establishment only accepts cash payments.
The guachinche has become the perfect spot for those looking to enjoy traditional cuisine by the sea.
Where to Find It
El Borgoñón de Sandra is located at Camino La Costa, 4, in Punta del Hidalgo. Its location is one of its strengths, offering the chance to enjoy a swim while indulging in Canarian gastronomy near the sea.
