Weather Forecast for Friday in the Canary Islands
Cloudy skies will once again take centre stage this Friday in northern Tenerife and other higher-altitude islands, although expansive clearings are expected in the afternoon. According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), weather conditions in the Canary Islands will remain stable, featuring mild temperatures, low clouds in the northern slopes, and predominately sunny conditions across much of the archipelago.
Weather Conditions in Tenerife
In Tenerife, the day will start with significant cloud cover in the north, particularly below 900 to 1,100 metres. As the day progresses, clearer skies will emerge, while the rest of the island will experience sporadic clouds and mostly clear skies in the mountainous regions.
Temperatures are expected to experience little change, although maximum temperatures may rise slightly in the midlands of the north. In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, temperatures are anticipated to range between 21 and 28 degrees. The wind will be light from the north but will strengthen in the eastern slopes and the northwestern tip of the island. In the central peaks, it will be a light to moderate west-facing breeze.
Clouds in Northern Canary Islands and More Sunshine Elsewhere
The situation will be similar across much of the archipelago. In Gran Canaria, cloudy skies are expected in the north below 800-900 metres, with expansive clearings during the afternoon. Temperatures will hardly fluctuate, and the north wind will blow with strong intervals in the eastern and northwestern slopes.
In La Gomera, the north will start off overcast, although clearings will develop as the hours pass. In La Palma, clouds will alternate, particularly in the northern and eastern slopes, while El Hierro will see low clouds in the north and more sunshine in the remainder of the island.
Meanwhile, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will enjoy a clearer day, with some clouds in the north and the presence of high-altitude clouds. Temperatures will remain stable, with maximums reaching up to 26 degrees in Puerto del Rosario.
Sea Conditions in the Canary Islands
Aemet forecasts for this Friday a northeast wind of force 3 to 5, with small waves or choppy seas along the coasts of the archipelago. In the western areas, variable winds and breezes will prevail, resulting in calm or slightly rippled seas.
Therefore, the forecast indicates a stable Friday weather in the Canary Islands, with clouds predominating in the north of the more mountainous islands and pleasant temperatures to round off the week.
