The ‘Buenavista Diversa’ festival is celebrating its tenth edition this year under the theme ‘More than 10 journeys around the sun’. It has established itself as a space for meeting, participation, and social transformation, committed to diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunities.
The councillor for Social Action of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Águeda Fumero, presided over the presentation of this initiative, accompanied by the mayor of Buenavista del Norte, Eva García, and the General Directors of Cultural Innovation and Centre Administration from the Government of the Canary Islands, Cristóbal de La Rosa and David Crego, respectively.
Values of the Festival
Fumero emphasised “the essence of this year’s theme, which revolves around the values of social commitment, participation, inclusion, equality, empathy, respect, diversity, community, coexistence, culture, and sustainability”.
The councillor added that “this festival solidifies its position as a space that celebrates diversity, inclusion, culture, and sustainability, in a magical setting like Buenavista del Norte”. She highlighted that “this edition focuses on the value of collective movement among those who, from various fields, have contributed to creating a more accessible, diverse, and humane society”.
Commitment to Accessibility
The Cabildo de Tenerife is participating in this initiative through Sinpromi, emphasising that “this is a festival that maintains its commitment to universal accessibility, integrating adapted proposals and spaces designed to ensure an inclusive experience at all levels”.
Special Commemoration
During the presentation, the mayor of Buenavista, Eva García, noted that “this is a very special edition, as it commemorates ten years of commitment to diversity, a value that should be celebrated, protected, and promoted”.
She also pointed out that “Buenavista Diversa has established itself as a key event for equality and inclusion, as well as a space for dialogue, participation, and coexistence, made possible by collaborative work between administrations, which is essential for driving long-term projects and, ultimately, solid initiatives with a real impact”.
