Strong Winds Expected in Tenerife
Winds will once again be a prominent feature this Tuesday in Tenerife. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasts occasionally very strong gusts in the southeast slope and the northwest tip of the island, on a day characterised by the trade winds and predominantly cloudy skies in the north.
The wind will blow moderately from the northeast, although it may intensify in exposed areas. In the central peaks, light southwesterly winds are anticipated, while breezes will dominate in the west.
Cloudy in the North and Clear Skies Throughout the Day
The forecast for Tenerife indicates predominantly cloudy skies in the north, especially below 900 to 1,000 metres. However, Aemet expects clear spells during the central hours of the day.
In the evening, cloud cover will increase again, reaching heights of between 1,200 and 1,300 metres. Occasional light drizzle is likely in the northeastern midlands during this final stretch.
In the rest of the island, conditions will be clearer, with little or no cloud cover for most of the day.
Temperatures with Few Changes
Temperatures in Tenerife are expected to remain stable. In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Aemet forecasts a minimum of 20 degrees and a maximum of 26 degrees.
However, the perceived temperature could be affected by the wind in more exposed areas and by cloud cover on the northern slope.
General Forecast in the Canary Islands
Across the archipelago, predominantly cloudy skies are expected in the northern regions of the islands on Tuesday, with a low probability of light drizzle in the midlands late in the day. The rest of the areas will experience mostly clear or sunny weather.
Winds will blow from the northeast, ranging from moderate to strong, with the possibility of occasionally very strong gusts on the southeast and northwest slopes of the mountainous islands. In Gran Canaria, Aemet does not rule out temperatures reaching 30 degrees in the eastern, southern, and western midlands.
Sea State
At sea, Aemet forecasts winds from the north or northeast at force 5 or 6, temporarily increasing to 7 in the southeast and western regions. There will be a strong swell, locally rough in these areas.
In the north, winds will blow from the north or northeast at force 4 or 5, with a moderate swell. In the southwest, variable winds of force 1 to 3 and small waves are anticipated. Additionally, there will be a long swell from the north of 1 to 2 metres in the northern and eastern waters.
