SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, December 18 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Today, Monday, the Cabildo of La Palma has begun the process of returning the residents of up to 139 homes in the green area of Puerto Naos, on the coast of Los Llanos de Aridane, affected by volcanic gases, a process that has been approved in the La Palma Island Emergency Plan (Peinpal).
The technical director of Peinpal, Rafael García, explained that meters have been installed in almost all the homes in the green zone and data have been collected for a month, in which the measurement range has always been below 700 ppm of CO2, which marks Public Health.
Rafael García indicated that administrators and neighbors are being informed about the security protocol that will be followed with them and how they should proceed if there is a sudden high increase in gases and it is necessary to evacuate.
In order to access their homes, residents must request an authorization in which they agree to have the Cabildo application installed, to be able to receive messages in the event of an increase in gases; have a meter installed; and that they are notified about the security protocol that exists.
They will also be subject to a series of requirements, such as not accessing elevators, ground floors and areas that are delimited on the beach. “Access is only the green area, no other area, neither beach, nor the rest of the areas of Puerto Naos,” García insisted.
