Jorge Amaro Nominated as CC Candidate for Los Realejos Mayor
Last night, Coalición Canaria (CC) of Los Realejos held an extraordinary assembly, unanimously electing Jorge Amaro as their candidate for the upcoming municipal elections in May 2027.
Following his acclamation, Amaro expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him, stating he approaches this new role “with honour, but above all with a strong sense of duty.” He emphasised the importance of municipal politics focusing on enhancing daily life for residents.
During his speech, Amaro acknowledged the support from party members, sympathisers, and local residents, noting this trust comes with significant responsibility. He stressed that candidacy should not be a personal ambition but rather a commitment to the community and its real challenges.
He highlighted the rich historical and cultural identity of Los Realejos. While proud of this heritage, he warned that preserving identity must also include creating opportunities for locals.
Amaro pointed to a vision for the town prioritising families at the heart of political action, aiming to foster conditions for a dignified life, housing access, and local economic development. He asserted, “We want a town where hard work leads to dignity, young people can find homes, and where older residents live in peace.”
He quoted the former president of the Canary Islands, Adán Martín, advocating for administrations to enable individuals to pursue their happiness rather than directly trying to provide it.
Amaro outlined CC’s ambition to usher in a new political phase for Los Realejos, focusing on tangible results and daily concerns, including housing, savings, employment, and public service quality.
He stressed the need for serious, results-driven politics that genuinely improve residents’ quality of life, stating, “We need a political approach that prioritises solving real issues for people.”
He also underscored the importance of appealing to a new generation that wants to settle in the town, promising to create conditions for their success.
Amaro asserted that CC aims to be a credible alternative for local governance, advocating for a streamlined administration that supports economic development while maintaining community identity.
In his closing remarks, Amaro reiterated his commitment to all residents, irrespective of their political affiliations, stating, “I am here to work with honesty and dedication for the greater good.” He concluded by affirming his promise to serve Los Realejos with integrity and loyalty, ready to build a better future for its people.
