Veranos del Taoro Festival Concludes Its Fifth Edition with Resounding Success

The Veranos del Taoro festival has concluded its fifth edition, once again garnering overwhelming support from the public at the Parque de la Sortija in Puerto de la Cruz with a series of fully booked performances. After three intense days of activity, the event reached a peak on Saturday with the highly anticipated performance by Lola Herrera, whose show had sold out months in advance. The audience packed into the Laurel de Indias at the Gran Hotel Taoro offered a lengthy and unanimous standing ovation, providing a grand finale to the festival.
A Thriving Final Day
The final day of the festival saw a flurry of activity that combined live performances with professional analysis. From the afternoon onwards, the gardens and surrounding areas of the Sortija experienced a high influx of spectators drawn by offerings like the Social Project, Proyecto Nido, the flamenco of Guadalupe Torres in “Echar raíces,” and the musical closure featuring Melissa T. & Paul St. Paul with “Madonna a la carta.” This served as the perfect lead-in to a fully booked night on the main stage.
Space for Reflection
Beyond the performances, the festival solidified its role as a space for meeting and reflection through “Escenarios con firma de mujer,” the official title for the discussion days focused on female artistic creation, supported by the Cabildo de Tenerife. Held at the Gran Hotel Taoro, this initiative brought together choreographers, theatre company directors, and top comedians to examine the perspectives, criteria, and professional challenges faced by women leading contemporary stage and artistic creation.
The success achieved on the final day mirrored the consistent attendance that characterised this edition, which kicked off the previous Thursday. Highlights included sell-out performances by Anabel Alonso in “La mujer rota” and American star Patti LuPone’s concert, along with various dance showcases. With this closing, Veranos del Taoro positions Puerto de la Cruz prominently within the theatrical routes of the country’s main productions.
Institutional Support
“This fifth edition vividly illustrates the immense talent of the creators who have showcased their work in Puerto de la Cruz. Witnessing Anabel Alonso’s unwavering dedication on stage, the historic privilege of hosting Patti LuPone’s voice, and the emotional standing ovation for Lola Herrera this Saturday is the greatest reward possible,” noted Enrique Camacho, director and founder of Veranos del Taoro.
The festival has institutional backing from the Government of the Canary Islands—through Turismo de Islas Canarias—the Cabildo of Tenerife—via Turismo de Tenerife—and the Ayuntamiento of Puerto de la Cruz. In the private sector, the support of the Gran Hotel Taoro as a strategic ally stands out, alongside sponsorship from Binter, Coca-Cola, Heineken, Auto Laca Canarias, and Crea SGR, complemented by various collaborating entities that enhance the cultural and professional impact of the event.
