Cristina Ruiz Stars in the Latest Episode of Blablalab, Colectivo Loba’s Podcast

The vocalist of Las Ratas features in the contemporary creation discussion space

Colectivo Loba Lab presents a new episode of Blablalab Podcast (www.colectivoloba.com) featuring Cristina Ruiz, one of the most notable voices in the new alternative scene of the Canary Islands. The episode, set to premiere on 20 June, continues the series of audiovisual meetings that have brought together creators from various disciplines to reflect on artistic processes, cultural professionalisation, and the challenges surrounding the internationalisation of contemporary creation.

About Cristina Ruiz

Tenerife-born singer Cristina Ruiz is linked to the alternative music scene, with a trajectory characterised by experimentation and the hybridisation of musical languages. Her work traverses rock, electronic music, and urban culture, constructing a unique artistic identity where vocal intensity, stage presence, and the continuous search for new forms of expression take centre stage.

Since 2018, she has been part of Las Ratas, one of the historic bands in the Canary Islands’ music scene, contributing to a period of sound and aesthetic renewal for the group. Previously, she participated in projects such as Neith, Line, and Mother in Law, experiences that have solidified her artistic practice open to exploration and dialogue between genres.

Key Discussion Points

During her conversation with Carlos Robles, Ruiz addresses issues related to constructing an artistic identity from insular territories, the importance of live performance as a space for connection with the audience, contemporary musical creation processes, and the challenges faced by emerging artists in a constantly evolving cultural context.

Continuation of the Podcast

With this episode, BLABLALAB Podcast continues its project, which has featured figures from various fields of contemporary creation. Guests include poet, writer, and cultural manager Alejandro Krawietz, who was spotlighted in the episode dedicated to literature, and Paula Calavera in the visual arts, sharing their professional and creative experiences through this format.

About Colectivo Loba Lab

BLABLALAB Podcast is part of the Colectivo Loba Lab programming, a cultural innovation laboratory initiated from the Canary Islands aimed at professionalising, promoting visibility, and internationalising emerging artists. Through podcasts, specialised mentoring, live music sessions, professional meetings, and digital tools, the project seeks to strengthen the creative ecosystem of the islands and create new opportunities for their creators.

The release of the episode featuring Cristina Ruiz coincides with the final stretch of the Colectivo Loba Lab programming, which continues to host training activities and specialised meetings in the fields of music, literature, and visual arts throughout June.

The episode will be available from 20 June on the digital platform and official channels of Colectivo Loba Lab.

Colectivo Loba Lab is a project funded by the Ministry of Culture, promoting cultural innovation, sustainability, equal opportunities, and the internationalisation of creative talent produced in the Canary Islands.
