La Laguna Unveils Official Programme for the 2026 San Benito Abad Regional Festivals and Pilgrimage

This Thursday, 18 June, at 11:00 AM, the former convent of Santo Domingo will host the official presentation of the programme for the 2026 San Benito Abad Regional Festivities and Romería, one of the most emblematic celebrations in San Cristóbal de La Laguna and the only regional romería in the Canary Islands.

Key Events in Early July

The programme will focus its main events during the first days of July, particularly highlighting the traditional Baile de Magos, scheduled for Friday 10 July, and the 80th edition of the San Benito Abad Regional Romería, which will parade through the streets of La Laguna on Sunday 12 July. This festival represents one of the most significant expressions of Canarian traditions, attracting thousands of pilgrims, folkloric groups, and decorated carts from across the Archipelago each year.

A Celebration with Historical Roots

The presentation will unveil the complete calendar of religious, cultural, and popular events that accompany the festivities in honour of the patron saint of the rural areas of Tenerife. This celebration has its roots in the 16th century and has established itself as one of the most prominent events in the Canarian festive calendar.
