Tenerife Cabildo Allocates €900,000 for Audiovisual Projects in 2026
The Cabildo of Tenerife will allocate €900,000 for the grant call aimed at the creation, production, and development of audiovisual projects for the 2026 financial year, as announced by the island institution in a statement. They assert that this is the largest funding ever approved for the audiovisual sector.
Increased Funding for 2026
The grant call, the regulations of which were approved this week by the Governing Council, surpasses the €800,000 allocated in 2025. It also includes measures to simplify administrative procedures for creators and producers.
Funding Structure
According to the Cabildo, the grants are structured into four categories, encompassing various stages of the audiovisual process, from initial project development to the production of feature and short films.
-
Category A: Designed for large film productions, such as feature fiction, documentary, or animation films, with budgets starting at €400,000. These projects will receive a fixed grant of €90,000.
-
Category B: Aimed at feature films with budgets starting from €80,000, which can access a fixed subsidy of €45,000.
-
Category C: Provides funding for short films, offering €10,000 for live-action works and up to €20,000 for animation projects.
-
Category D: Will fund pre-production development tasks for feature films, such as screenplay writing, research, location scouting, or financial structuring, with grants of €15,000.
Consultation Improvements
Additionally, through the signing of a non-opposition annex, the Cabildo will be able to “automatically consult the required documentation through the Data Intermediation Platform,” aiming to “reduce the bureaucratic burden for applicants,” as they state. They have clarified that the Strategic Grant Plan initially included €500,000 but has now been augmented with an additional €400,000, bringing the total to €900,000.
