SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 8 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Local police in Santa Cruz de Tenerife have recently arrested a 63-year-old man who assaulted his mother and a relative’s dog at their shared residence in Los Gladiolos.
The incident was reported around midday when the police communications centre dispatched a unit to a potential domestic violence case. Upon entering the residence, officers discovered an 86-year-old woman lying on the floor, unable to move.
A relative living in the flat stated that it was common for the man now in custody to threaten them with death and even warned he would harm the dog. The police also found the dog in the home, covered in blood and motionless, as confirmed by police sources in a statement.
The arrested individual admitted to assaulting the dog, which he had struck with a dumbbell, later found by officers also smeared with blood. Given the circumstances, he was taken into custody and transported to a nearby health centre.
Officers also summoned a medical team, which, after treating the woman, decided she needed to be transferred to the University Hospital of Our Lady of Candelaria (HUNSC) for further examination. Meanwhile, the dog was urgently taken to a veterinary clinic.
