Road and Natural Environment Departments Collaborate to Install Corrective Measures in Candelaria
The Road and Natural Environment departments of the Cabildo de Tenerife are working together to address the issue of bird collisions with acoustic screens located along the TF-1, near the municipality of Candelaria.
The Natural Environment department has already requested quotes from specialised companies for the installation of visual elements on the acoustic screens. These elements aim to significantly reduce the risk of bird collisions. The proposed measure involves the installation of adhesive strips with a specific pattern that enhances the animals’ perception of the barrier and prevents impacts.
Both departments are coordinating their efforts to expedite the solution and process necessary documentation as quickly as possible, aiming to implement the proposed corrective measures swiftly and prevent further bird collisions in this section of the TF-1.
Initial efforts will focus on the stretch where technicians have identified the highest incidence of collisions. However, preventive actions will also be considered at other points on the motorway where similar situations may occur.
The Cabildo de Tenerife reaffirms its commitment to biodiversity conservation and the continuous improvement of the island’s infrastructure by promoting solutions that balance road safety with environmental protection.
