Weather Alert for Tenerife This Sunday
This Sunday, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) will issue a new yellow alert in Tenerife, specifically affecting the metropolitan area.
The alert will commence at 16:00 due to strong winds that may reach maximum gusts of 70 kilometres per hour, impacting the southern face and exposed peaks.
However, this will not be the only alert activated during the day. Later at night, starting from 21:00, further warnings will be issued for adverse coastal phenomena. In this case, winds from the northeast are expected to reach 50 to 61 km/h (force 7) in the channel between Tenerife and Gran Canaria, and in the southeast of Gran Canaria.
Forecast for Tenerife
Specifically, the weather forecast for the island of Tenerife indicates that it will be mostly clear with predominantly cloudy skies in the north and morning intervals in the south and west.
Light drizzle is not ruled out in the northeast during the early hours.
Temperatures are expected to rise, especially in the peaks and minimums in the southern midlands, with little change in other areas. There will be a northeastern trade wind with intervals of strong gusts, primarily affecting the eastern slope, extreme northwest, and southern metropolitan area. Breezes will be present in the west, while the central peaks will experience light winds from the north, shifting to east in the afternoon.
General Forecast
According to the forecast for the entire archipelago, cloudy skies are expected in the northern mountainous areas below 900-1100 metres, as well as in the west of the more eastern islands, with a chance of occasional drizzle, mainly in the midlands during the early morning and at dusk, giving way to some clearer intervals in the afternoon.
In other areas, conditions will be mostly clear or sunny.
