Two New Waste Collection Vehicles
The San Juan de la Rambla and La Guancha Municipal Association will receive two new vehicles designated for the solid waste collection service. This new equipment, acquired with an investment exceeding €400,000, will be operational from today, aimed at improving collection times and providing a more efficient, modern service adapted to the current needs of both municipalities.
A Compactor Truck and a Satellite Collector
Specifically, this involves the introduction of a rear-loading compacting collection truck and a rear-loading satellite collection truck. These two complementary vehicles aim to enhance the efficiency of the collection service. The first truck is the primary vehicle for the service. It has a capacity of 17 cubic metres and is designed for complete urban routes with larger volumes. It collects waste from containers or through manual loading, compacting it inside using a hydraulic system, which optimises space and reduces the number of trips to the treatment plant.
Meanwhile, the satellite truck has a capacity of approximately seven cubic metres and is designed to access difficult-to-manoeuvre areas where the larger vehicle cannot operate. Its function is to collect waste from these more complex points and subsequently transfer it to the main compactor truck, with which it operates in a coordinated manner.
Notably, until now, the municipality of La Guancha, covering almost 24 square kilometres, only had a single truck in service that was over 20 years old, thanks to an additional municipal investment of €200,000. Established in 2000, the association jointly manages services related to urban solid waste collection, container cleaning, and the removal of bulky items and household scrap, serving thousands of residents in both municipalities.
