SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov 18 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, the Minister of Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, and the European Commissioner for the Environment, Virginijus Sinkevicius, visit La Palma this Friday to learn about the evolution of the volcanic eruption in Cumbre Vieja.
The working day is started by the minister, at 10.50 am, with a meeting with the Canarian councilor for Ecological Transition, José Antonio Valbuena, the president of the Cabildo de La Palma, Mariano Hernández, and the mayors of the affected municipalities.
Later, he will meet with Ernesto Aguiar, director of the management body of the Biosphere Reserve and with the Forest Fire Reinforcement Brigades (BRIF).
In the afternoon, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, joins the working day with a visit to the portable desalination plants in Puerto Naos aboard a Navy ship and another on the tanker.
At 7.30 pm, both the president and the minister will meet with the European Commissioner for the Environment, Virginijus Sinkevicius, and after a joint appearance before the media, they will conclude their agenda with representatives of the island’s fishing sector.
