San Pedro Celebrations in Los Realejos Highlighted by Fruit Arch
Each year on June 29, the feast of San Pedro draws visitors to the charming fruit arch at the San Pedro hermitage in Los Realejos, located in northern Tenerife.
The festivities are set against the stunning backdrop of the Rambla de Castro natural area, attracting those travelling along the nearby motorway. This location features the beautifully restored hermitage, which nearly faced ruin in the past. It has long been a tradition for locals to visit the site before heading to Socorro beach, bringing along baskets filled with food to enjoy later.
The San Pedro festival is a vibrant memory for many, reflecting the community’s spirit and dedication. The fruit arch, crafted with increasing skill each year, exemplifies unique craftsmanship in the area, earning commendations from residents.
The hermitage is adorned with splendid floral arrangements, mirroring the nearby sea. While these celebrations have deep historical roots, they had been paused due to the hermitage’s dilapidated state, but it has now been restored to its former glory.
These festivities continue to evoke fond memories, and locals celebrate their lasting tradition with enthusiasm.
