WeatherWarnings in Canary Islands

The yellow weather alerts return to the Canary Islands today, with Tenerife expecting adverse coastal conditions. Winds from the northeast will reach speeds of 50 to 61 km/h (force 7) in the channel between Tenerife and Gran Canaria overnight. The alert will be activated at 10:00 PM, affecting the eastern, southern, and western areas of the island.

El Hierro will experience similar conditions, with its warning covering the entire coast, starting at the same time.

Winds will be particularly strong in Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, and La Gomera. The warning for Lanzarote will start at 3:00 AM, while Gran Canaria and La Gomera will see the alert issued by midday. Maximum gusts are expected to reach 70 km/h, and potentially up to 90 km/h in Gran Canaria and La Gomera.

Heat Warnings for Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria will also face yellow alerts for high temperatures starting at 11:00 AM, with expected highs of 35°C, especially in the southeast, south, and west areas, and around Tejeda. In some places, temperatures could rise to 37°C.

Tenerife Weather Forecast

In Tenerife, the forecast predicts cloudy intervals in the north below 600 to 700 metres during early and late hours, with clearer skies by midday. Other areas will remain mostly clear, with some mid and high cloud cover developing in the afternoon, and occasional rain possible in the mountains.

There will be a dust haze in high areas later in the day, while coastal temperatures will remain stable and slightly rise inland, likely exceeding 30-32°C in some regions.

Moderate trade winds will blow strongly in the southeast and northwest, while breezes dominate in the southwest. Moderate southerly winds are expected in the central peaks.
