A medical team from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC) recently assisted with an at-home birth in Los Realejos, Tenerife. Both mother and newborn were in good health and were later taken to hospital for further care.
The emergency call came in the early hours, with the father reporting that his wife had given birth at home. The SUC coordinator provided initial guidance over the phone, assessing the conditions of both mother and baby.
Confirming they were stable, SUC dispatched an advanced life support ambulance to the residence. Upon arrival, the team—consisting of a doctor, a nurse, and an emergency technician—found the mother and baby in good condition. The delivery was completed without any complications, and the father cut the umbilical cord under the guidance of the medical staff.
After providing necessary assistance at home, mother and child were safely transported to the local hospital for specialised care. Meanwhile, health coordinators contacted Obstetrics, Midwifery, and Gynaecology services to ensure ongoing support.
