Stable Weather Conditions in the Canary Islands

The Canary Islands begin this Monday with generally stable weather, although there will be cloudy intervals in the lower northern areas of the more mountainous islands, along with the possibility of light and occasional rain in La Palma by the end of the day, according to the forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
In Tenerife, the day will be characterised by clouds in the north during the early hours, which will give way to clear skies by midday. The rest of the island will experience mostly clear or sunny skies.
Tenerife: More Clear Skies by Midday and Highs of 27 Degrees in Santa Cruz
Aemet predicts cloudy intervals in the north below 700 to 900 metres, with predominantly sunny conditions as the day progresses. Elsewhere on the island, clear skies will prevail. Temperatures will remain stable, with a slight increase in maximums at mid-altitudes. In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, temperatures are expected to range between 20 and 27 degrees.
Regarding the wind, it will blow from the northeast at a moderate intensity, though it may strengthen during the afternoon in the southeast, extreme northwest, and the southern slopes of the metropolitan area.
One of the most notable features of the day will be the strengthening of the trade winds during the latter part of the day. Aemet does not rule out locally very strong gusts in the southeast and northwest slopes of the mountainous islands, particularly in Tenerife, Gran Canaria, La Gomera, and El Hierro. On the southwest coasts, the prevailing breeze regime will continue.
Weather Conditions Across the Rest of the Canary Islands
- Gran Canaria: cloudy in the north, sunny elsewhere. Temperatures may locally exceed 30 degrees at mid-altitudes in the south, east, and west.
- La Palma: cloudy intervals in the north and east, with a chance of light rain by the end of the day, especially on the northern slopes.
- La Gomera and El Hierro: alternating clouds and clear spells in the northern slopes, with clearer weather elsewhere.
- Lanzarote and Fuerteventura: cloudiness in the north and west during the early hours, with clear spells during the day and stable temperatures.
Sea Conditions in the Canary Islands
In the sea, winds from the north and northeast are expected, ranging from force 2 to 5, with gusts of force 6 in some areas. There will be small waves or a slight swell, increasing to moderate swells throughout the day. On the southwest coasts, variable winds and a slight swell will predominate.
Forecasted Temperatures in the Canary Capitals
- Santa Cruz de Tenerife: 20ºC / 27ºC
- Las Palmas de Gran Canaria: 21ºC / 25ºC
The week thus begins in the Canary Islands with a forecast of clouds in the north, sunshine across much of the archipelago, pleasant temperatures, and winds that will regain prominence as the afternoon progresses.
