The Granadilla de Abona Town Council, through its Department of Works and Services, has awarded the execution of the modular car park in El Médano. This infrastructure is deemed strategic, as it will enhance the parking capacity of the coastal area—one of its most pressing issues—and will be the first of its kind in Tenerife, as reported by the Town Council yesterday.
This award marks a significant step towards the implementation of a long-anticipated project by residents, traders, and visitors, particularly during peak tourist seasons, such as the summer months when arrivals in this coastal hub multiply.
PROJECT DETAILS
The project, situated on Tenerife Street next to the football field annexes, represents an investment exceeding €2,920,000. It aims to “reduce parking pressure, improve traffic organisation, and facilitate access and mobility in the area,” the Granadilla Town Council explained in a statement.
The building will accommodate 160 vehicles, featuring two levels and a flat, accessible roof, covering a plot of 2,155 square metres.
Marcos Antonio Rodríguez, the Councillor for Works and Services, emphasised that “the launch of this modular car park in El Médano will significantly increase the number of available spaces and move towards a more orderly, efficient mobility model that responds to the growth experienced by this coastal area.” He believes this infrastructure will enhance accessibility and boost social and economic activity in the region.
According to the councillor, this initiative is “necessary, planned, and designed to meet a longstanding demand.”
PREVIOUS PROCEDURES
With the award now formalised, preliminary procedures for the commencement of the works will begin in accordance with the administrative process timeline, aiming to put the new infrastructure into service as swiftly as possible.
The Town Council reminds that the construction of a modular car park is part of the municipal strategy for improving and modernising public infrastructures.
