Special Opening of National Identity Document Offices in Tenerife
The National Police will exceptionally open the offices for issuing and renewing National Identity Documents (DNI) and passports in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and San Cristóbal de La Laguna this Saturday, 13 June. This decision comes in anticipation of a significant rise in demand for these services due to the visit of Pope Leo XIV to the island.
This measure aims to facilitate documentation management for both residents and visitors on a day when thousands of people are expected to arrive in Tenerife for the scheduled events surrounding the papal visit.
Extended Opening Hours Throughout the Day
According to the National Police, the offices located at Robayna 23 and Ramón Pérez de Ayala 6 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife will remain open from 09:00 to 18:00. Meanwhile, the San Cristóbal de La Laguna office, situated at Nava y Grimón 66, will operate from 09:30 to 18:30. This extraordinary opening is in response to the anticipated influx of citizens needing to renew or obtain their documentation before participating in the events related to the Pope’s visit.
Express DNI Service to Streamline Processes
The Police also highlighted that the offices at Robayna and La Laguna have implemented the Express DNI system, a tool designed to expedite the renewal process. Thanks to this system, citizens who have not changed their personal details or signature since the previous document will not need to provide a photograph; the image will be captured directly at the police facility during processing.
According to the police, capturing the photograph on-site and automating parts of the procedure helps simplify administrative tasks, reduce waiting times, and enhance user support.
