Intense Fog Causes Disruptions at Tenerife Norte Airport
Flight Diversions and Cancellations
Intense fog affecting Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna Airport on Friday is causing significant disruptions to air operations. According to the latest update from Aena, ten diversions and five cancellations have already been reported due to difficulties in landing at Los Rodeos.
Flights have attempted to land, but adverse weather conditions have forced several operations to be redirected.
Affected flights include connections from:
– Madrid
– Barcelona
– Fuerteventura
– Lanzarote
– La Palma
– Gran Canaria
Specific Redirected Flights
One flight originating from La Palma was redirected to Tenerife Sur Airport. Additionally, six flights from Madrid, Barcelona, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, and Gran Canaria had to land at the southern airport.
Furthermore, one flight from Gran Canaria was redirected to La Palma, while two others returned to their point of origin.
Cancellations Primarily Affecting El Hierro
The cancellations mainly impact connections with El Hierro, with four flights cancelled from Valverde, along with one operation from Fuerteventura.
Ongoing Fog Conditions
The fog remains very dense around the airport, continuing to affect air operations and potentially causing further incidents throughout the day. Aena advises passengers to check the status of their flights before heading to the airport.
