Aena Approves Over €1 Million for Soundproofing near Tenerife North Airport
Aena has approved an investment of over one million euros for soundproofing measures in 125 properties located around Tenerife North Airport, as part of the Acoustic Isolation Plan.
In a statement, they noted that there is “another pending allocation” to intervene in an additional 30 homes, with final approval dependent on the acceptance of the proposals by the property owners. This information was conveyed during the 46th follow-up meeting of the Plan, attended by representatives from the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO), the State Agency for Air Safety (AESA), and the local councils of San Cristóbal de La Laguna and Tegueste.
Census of Affected Properties
According to the airport management, the updated census of homes “entitled to request acoustic insulation” in the airport vicinity stands at 3,154 properties.
– Of these, 2,858 are located in San Cristóbal de La Laguna.
– There are 160 in Tacoronte and 136 in Tegueste.
Aena highlighted that they have received 1,774 requests to participate in the plan, “although there are still 1,380 homes whose owners have not initiated the process despite being included within the intervention area,” they detailed.
Programme Developments
During the meeting, it was also reported that 72 new properties have been added to the programme, and work has been completed on 21 homes. Additionally, partial works at IES Geneto are set to continue until fully completed.
In total, the Plan “has already achieved acoustic insulation for 1,142 properties, while another 186 are currently under execution.”
In light of this situation, Aena reminds that the Acoustic Isolation Plan Management Office “remains available to answer questions and facilitate application processing,” both by phone and via email.
