CaixaBank Launches New ‘Social Month’ Initiative

Promoting Volunteerism Across Society
Voluntariado CaixaBank has launched the latest edition of ‘Social Month’, a charitable initiative aimed at mobilising employees, their families, friends, and clients to bring volunteerism closer to society and extend the social impact of previous editions. This fourth edition holds special significance as it coincides with 2026, declared by the United Nations as the ‘International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development’. This context reinforces the drive for charitable actions to foster a fairer and more inclusive society.
Activities and Collaborations
Throughout May and into early June, CaixaBank will coordinate, in collaboration with local social organisations, 174 initiatives across all eight islands aimed at vulnerable groups. This collaboration allows for the design of tailored activities that maximise the impact of each action.
The activities during ‘Social Month’ encompass various areas, including:
- Support Services
- Financial Education
- Digitalisation
- Environmental Conservation
- Cultural Events
- Sports Initiatives
These activities are crafted to address the specific needs of each territory. The high level of internal engagement positions CaixaBank as a leader in corporate volunteering. In 2025, over 19,000 employees participated in charitable initiatives nationwide, representing 45% of the workforce, significantly above the sector average.
Understanding Social Commitment
According to the 2025 Voluntare Report, involving 236 organisations from Europe and Latin America, of which CaixaBank contributed, 77% of companies mobilise more than 10% of their staff for volunteering initiatives, with only 45% exceeding 20%. This highlights the strong social commitment of CaixaBank professionals. Furthermore, the study indicates a direct correlation between volunteerism and enhanced leadership within organisations, as engaging in charitable actions improves the professional skills of employees and managers by exposing them to vulnerable realities.
Following the achievements of the 2025 ‘Social Month’, which saw more than 530 volunteers mobilised in the Canary Islands, reaching over 2,900 vulnerable individuals, Voluntariado CaixaBank aims to continue growing and improving its contribution to society. This initiative, supported by the “la Caixa” Foundation and CaixaBank Group employees, is open to the public, allowing individuals to sign up for activities based on their preferences and availability via the Voluntariado CaixaBank website.
Highlighted Activities in the Canary Islands
In the Canary Islands, ‘Social Month’ will feature a diverse programme focusing on social inclusion and environmental protection, mobilising hundreds of volunteers across various initiatives. Noteworthy actions include:
- Magic Line Participation: Volunteers will assist in this initiative organised by San Juan de Dios in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, which focuses on supporting individuals with disabilities.
- Environmental Day of Volunteering: A significant event promoted in partnership with the Fundación Canaria Foresta that will unite over 500 volunteers in various activities aimed at conserving and caring for the natural environment throughout the archipelago.
- Inclusive Football Match: In La Matanza de Acentejo (Tenerife), an inclusive football match will be held in collaboration with the Club Deportivo Integración, engaging volunteers and beneficiaries in promoting integration through sports.
- Inclusive Leisure Activities: Scheduled in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, an inclusive leisure activity with Aspronte will bring together volunteers and individuals with disabilities in a space that fosters community interaction.
