The Cabildo of Tenerife will reopen trails number 9 Teide-Pico Viejo, number 12 Mirador de Pico Viejo, number 23 Regatones Negros and number 28 Chafarí this Wednesday, following improvements to safety conditions.

Conversely, access to trail number 7 Montaña Blanca-Pico Teide, trail number 10 Telesforo Bravo, and trail number 11 Mirador de La Fortaleza remains restricted due to potential hazards posed by ice and snow.

Accordingly, trail number 9 Teide-Pico Viejo along road TF-38 will now be available to the public, specifically in the segment between its junctions with trails 38 (Cuevas Negras) and 12 (Mirador de Pico Viejo), which has been closed until now. The aforementioned trails 12, 23, and 28 are also now open.

In addition, access to the following trails or sections remains prohibited: trail number 7 Montaña Blanca-Pico Teide, covering the area from the top of Montaña Blanca to the juncture of trails 7 and 11 near Mirador de La Fortaleza; trail number 10 Telesforo Bravo; and trail number 11 Mirador de La Fortaleza.

This restriction will not apply to federated mountain enthusiasts who possess the requisite basic winter equipment (technical clothing, crampons, and ice axes) and who also provide a certification of capability from the relevant federations, which must be presented to the control personnel, as detailed in a note from the Cabildo.

Furthermore, they must be registered on the Tenerife ON application or website.

Similarly, this restriction does not impact legally recognised active tourism companies operating in Teide National Park, provided they have guides with the appropriate qualifications (mid-mountain sports technician or higher, or similar professional accreditation) to navigate snowy regions, equipped with the mandatory basic winter gear (technical clothing, crampons, and ice axe).

They, too, must be registered on the Tenerife ON application or website.
